Try as we may, work and life never seem to balance out. Full schedules and overflowing workloads don’t leave much space or energy to manage all the tasks required to live a full life.

Have you considered taking a Life Refresh Vacation?

A Life Refresh Vacation is a staycation dedicated to handling all the little things that don’t seem to get done. It’s a time to focus on personal tasks and projects to help you feel like you have your act together.

How to use your Life Refresh Vacation?

Here are a few ideas:

  • Deep clean your house – or hire a cleaning service to do it for you
  • Actually finish your laundry – while binge-watching a show you’ve had on your list
  • Declutter and reorganize that closet – you know which closet.
  • Attend important appointments – annual wellness, dental cleaning, haircut, car oil change
  • Get spa treatments
  • Finally finish a home project that’s been sitting 90% done
  • Drop off donations to your local charity
  • Start your garden

When to schedule your Life Refresh Vacation?

  • In advance – don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed. Get it on the calendar so you can intentionally plan your time.
  • Consider the ebbs and flows of your work. Is there a week when things slow down? This will keep you from doing too much pre- or post-vacation work and reduce the chances of your time off being interrupted.
  • Look at your personal calendar. Is there a time when your life gets unruly, and it’d be nice to have time to reset?

I schedule this week twice a year – in the summer, right before the Independence Day holiday, and the week between Christmas and New Year.

Get the most out of your Life Refresh Vacation.

  • Set expectations with your work contacts. Set up a backup for when you’re out. Add your vacation time to your email signature in advance. Set your out-of-office.
  • Balance laborious tasks with leisure. Don’t make it all work and no fun.
  • Close your work email on your computer and phone.
  • Outsource more of your day-to-day for the week. Can someone else drop off and pick up the kids from school? Do you have the budget to eat out or order a meal-kit service? What do you usually do throughout the week that would interrupt your flow? Is there someone else who can do it during your time off?

Taking a Life Refresh Vacation can be the perfect way to reclaim control and create a fresh start in your personal life. By setting aside dedicated time to handle the tasks that often fall to the wayside, you’ll not only feel more organized but also more at ease. Imagine returning to work not with the usual post-vacation catch-up stress but with a renewed sense of balance and readiness to tackle whatever comes your way. Schedule this week for yourself, plan it with intention, and enjoy the benefits of a life reset that goes beyond just one week.
